This term, Year 6 are drawing cultural objects from around the world. They have been working on small scale drawings of traditional African masks. They first learnt about the masks and how they are used within African culture. Then, drawing from photographs and filling their A5 page, pupils lightly sketched the masks using pencil.

Pupils then practised using dip-pens and Indian ink, focussing on techniques to create a variety of tones. Once confident with the new medium, they carefully drew over their initial sketch.

Pupils are documenting their work in sketchbooks. This week they have begun large-scale drawings of cultural objects in charcoal and chalk. Watch this space!
