We are delighted to share that Helen Allison has received an extraordinary six separate parent nominations for this year’s Kent Education Awards. This is the first time we have seen one member of staff receive such a number of independent nominations and it is a powerful reflection of the impact she has on our school community.
Across all six nominations, a clear picture emerges of a teacher whose influence extends far beyond the classroom. Parents repeatedly spoke of Helen’s ability to help children feel valued, understood and confident in themselves. Her nurturing approach, commitment to inclusion and belief in every child allows pupils to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Parents highlighted the many ways Helen goes above and beyond to support children. This includes creating and continuing a philosophy lunchtime club where pupils can discuss friendships, feelings and wider life questions in a safe and supportive environment. Others recognised her imaginative teaching, her passion for reading and her ability to engage children through memorable learning experiences that connect with the wider world.
Helen has also played an important role in strengthening our curriculum, helping children to develop a thoughtful understanding of equality, discrimination and anti-racism and, importantly, how they can challenge injustice with kindness and respect.
We are incredibly proud of Helen and this well deserved recognition. The warmth and gratitude expressed by families is a testament to the lasting difference she makes to children’s lives each and every day.
