Throughout the academic year, pupils in Year R have been working hard to develop and strengthen their gross and fine motor skills. Our journey began in September with the children making large whole-body movements through play, exploring activities and in Write Dance lessons. Children gradually working towards making smaller movements and mark-making, working on more refined and complex tasks and using smaller tools.

Over the last few weeks, pupils have been joining fabric using the running stitch; pupils using a needle and thread and small scissors - a very refined task indeed! They have been making a collaborative line of punting to be display within the school in September.

To begin, pupils drew an animal shape onto felt and then cut them out with small fabric scissors. They then (very independently) used stitches to attach them onto hessian punting. This task really demonstrates the massive progress that they have made throughout the year! A really great job!
