As you have hopefully seen, there is a separate blog about Year 3 in the woodlands, making their journey sticks.

Year 3 have been looking at what materials people might have used in the Stone Age. They made tools from string, sticks and stones - Harvey, Jacob and Taylor persevered as it is not an easy task. Lots of children used charcoal to make paint, like Sienna and Aryatara and some made their own paintbrushes from sticks, string and natural materials like leaves and grass.  Helena made her own necklace whereas Tia found rocks, washed and identified them.

Bella, Jayden, Alex and Max started their own wattle and daub houses, using willow and a mallet to make their pillars and then weave the rods through. Emma and Maddie worked hard to bring the woodchip up to Forest School. This week we are grinding down our own oats, mixing it with water and then frying it to make stone age bread in a dry pan over the fire.

Forest School lends itself to so many child-led opportunities which is so important for their development. They enjoy the space and time outside.

Have a lovely Easter break and enjoy nature!
