Year 2 had a sunny trip to Covert woods this term.
Children learned about the woodland trees by solving riddles (silver birch, beech, holly and pine trees) and they created stick towers with a variety of strategies and teamwork. We found out about some of the animals that live in the woodlands, explored the area, went bug hunting, walked around with tree identification charts, spotted mushrooms and found exciting beetles.
Some children needed pens so they mixed water and mud to create natural paint. Often children just need a few natural materials but also time, space and a little freedom.
