It’s week 3 of our Music and Art project – Mrs Brookes led a music lesson using the children’s homemade instruments and drawing upon previous learning. To warm up, the children marched like dinosaurs and moved to a steady beat.

Pupils then tapped, shook and scraped their instruments; each of these sounds was represented by a symbol inspired by the work of artist Henri Matisse.

Pupils took turns to conduct the class by pointing to the different symbols. The children organised the symbols into sequences/patterns and made creative compositions for their instruments. They made their music more exciting by adding dynamics (quiet and loud).
