This week, Year 3 pupils have been responding to and interpreting different types of music through their artwork. After a class discussion about colour and how they evoke certain emotions, we briefly looked at the work of Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky who himself worked to music creating abstract paintings using shape and colour.

 

The children listened to an eclectic selection of music and freely responded to it using colour, line and shape to describe how it made them feel. They used mixed media – wax crayons, colour pencils and watercolour paint in their mini sketchbooks. We all had great fun and even managed a little boogie to Samba music at the end of the lesson!
