At Bridge & Patrixbourne CEP School, we believe it is essential for our pupils to understand the importance of supporting charitable organisations. As a maintained school guided by Christian values, we nurture a sense of responsibility and compassion in our pupils, helping them to grow into thoughtful and generous members of our community and the wider world.

Our Commitment to Charitable Support

Throughout the school year, our pupils actively engage with a variety of charities—local, national, and global—including some that directly support our own school community. This involvement is deeply connected to our school vision inspired by Jesus’ words: “I am the vine, you are the branches” (John 15:5). Just as branches rely on the vine to flourish, our pupils learn to support and uplift others around them.

We encourage pupils to:

  • Recognise the vital work that charities do to help those in need.
  • Raise awareness about important causes, understanding that spreading knowledge is as valuable as raising funds.
  • Develop empathy and generosity, living out our core values of Service, Compassion, and Generosity.

Why Raising Awareness Matters

Raising awareness is a powerful way for our pupils to make a difference. By learning about different causes, pupils develop a broader understanding of the world and the challenges faced by others. Awareness campaigns at our school often involve creative projects, assemblies, and discussions that inspire pupils to think critically and act with kindness.

Examples of Our Charitable Activities

  • Canterbury Food bank
  • Salvation Army Giving Tree
  • Wear It Yellow for Cystic Fibrosis
  • Bone Cancer Trust
  • Help for Heroes
  • Save the Children - Christmas Jumper Day
  • Comic Relief
  • Children in Need
  • Down's Syndrome Awareness Day

These activities reinforce our values of Trust and Forgiveness, teaching pupils to work together respectfully and support those who are vulnerable.

Parental Support

We welcome parents to join us in these efforts by encouraging conversations at home about the charities we support and the values we uphold. Together, we can inspire our pupils to continue growing as compassionate and responsible individuals.
