Welcome to Year 2
Year 2 is the final year of Key Stage 1 and an important step in each child’s learning journey. Children build on the skills they have developed in Year 1 and become more independent learners, showing greater responsibility for their work.
A key focus this year is on preparing for the end of Key Stage 1 assessments (SATs), which give children the chance to demonstrate their progress in reading, writing, and mathematics. We ensure these are approached in a calm and supportive way so that children feel confident and ready to do their best.
Alongside their academic learning, pupils enjoy a range of creative and practical experiences, from school trips to exciting projects across the curriculum. These opportunities help them to grow in confidence, resilience, and teamwork.
Year 2 is a year of progress, achievement, and celebration, providing a strong foundation for the transition into Key Stage 2.
