Well, this was Year 1's last official Forest School session until they are in Year 2. Honestly, it has been wonderful to see their journey so far - the children have developed so much confidence, they now come up with their own ideas and ask for things out of the shed that we have done before like story telling dice, making hedgehog houses using mallets and building shelters.

We played a new game today, passing a bag around and singing to the tune of 'Old McDonald' - the children took a card out, named the tree or animal and gave some interesting facts. We also found some animal poo which turned the children into investigators to find out which animal had visited our area, using identification swatch books.

The craft table was filled with Elder branches today which are very soft inside and great for creating necklaces and using with string. The children have shown that they are very sensible with tools and used secateurs and bow saws well today.

The children collected stones, soil, grass and sticks to create Easter gardens, linking in with their learning in RE. We played the ants game one last time, learning that they work in a team and are great at carrying.

Towards the end we had a great reflection on their best parts of Forest School - I have encouraged the children to keep looking out for animals, bugs and plants when they are out and about. I am looking forward to seeing the children again when it is their turn next!!
