Forest School Year 2 Term 2 2025-2026

Welcome to Term 2 Forest School.

Children learned about Remembrance and we reflected on gratitude in nature, we filled in a big poppy with leaves, made nature crosses and some poppy wreaths (from willow and red leaves).

We re-capped on bird names, read a story about starlings and how they like to fly in a flock (murmuration). They made nature bird feeders, nests for the birds and we also went on mushroom hunts.

In week 3 we made a fire- we warmed our hands in the cold weather and cooked apple slices with sugar and cinnamon. Children learned some facts about facts, such as that they clean themselves and that they are the only flying mammal and created their own bats.

We also explored christmas crafts with pine cones, potato prints, some tools and natural materials. We make sure we only ever pick a little bit off the plants so they can recover.

Year 2 have enjoyed the muddy rainy weather - thank you if you help your child with the correct clothing so they can enjoy Forest School in every weather.
