Welcome back to Forest School Year 5.

We started this term with a tree guessing game and following on from last year, we went over some knots, including the reef knot and square lashings which helps to combine two pieces of wood together. The children made their own creations, like dream catchers, picture frames, fishing rods, naughts and crosses games and spider webs.

The children used mud and natural materials to create fantastic mud faces on the trees. The hammock was never empty when it was out and the new toy birds which make sounds were a big hit. The children created their own masterpieces with wood slices, nails and hammers - we had owls, cats and many more. The loose wooden parts offered opportunities to build bridges in the digging area.

We went on an Autumn treasure hunt and used i-pads in order to take photos and preserve the area (and keep children safe from touching mushrooms and berries) as our Forest Schools set out.

The last week was all about conkers, they learned some facts, enjoyed drilling them and throwing them at cans as well as cooking them in the mud kitchen.
