We had lots of sunny weather in this term.

Here are some of the things that Year 1 was up to in Forest School.

The children helped to plant cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes in the polytunnel -outside in the flower beds we have lots of beans, lettuce, courgettes and pumpkins growing. They spread them out, weeded the area, planted and watered them.

I had some boys interested in sweet chestnuts and we found the leaves on our school grounds.

Year 1 learned about Hapa Zome and the old japanese way of printing by using mallets, leaves/ petals and and white fabric. Some children turned these into flags by hammering them onto sticks.

For VE day, children could drill holes in log slices and decorate them with them British flag. We found natural items, counted in 2s and played our zip, zap boing game again.

Some children made wands, balanced on planks, played in the mud kitchen or made potions for a witch. We also spotted a wasps nests and a mouse hole!
