Despite much disruption due to covid absences of pupils and staff last term, Year 5 have been able to conclude their collage project this week.

Using inspiration from ‘Explore’, their class reading book, pupils have created collages using both hot and cold colours. Like artists Henry Matisse and Eric Carle, the children created their own collage paper. Pupils responded to videos and sounds of both hot and cold (volcanoes, boiling water, glaciers, ice cracking etc). These pieces of paper were themselves artworks and pupils were encouraged to work boldly and expressively using a variety of media – it was great fun!

Pupils then created collages of creatures; some A3 and very ambitious and others A4 in their sketchbooks. I would like to share some of the work with you. Please see our gallery below:
