Year 6 have completed their ‘human figure in motion’ sculptures; this project was disrupted in term 3 due to covid.

In term 3, pupils learnt about the proportion of the human figure. They drew from mannequins and from movement on film (sporting imagery). As a class, we looked at the artists Niki De Saint Phalle, Alberto Giacometti and Elisabeth Frink. Each pupil then chose the work of one of the artists to inspire their own design/s for a sculpture depicting human movement.

This term, pupils completed their armatures (structures) from wood and wire; they used aluminium foil to create the form and curves of the body. The figures were then carefully covered in a layer of Modroc and a clay base was created to keep the figure standing.

The project continues this term - the children are now creating relief prints inspired by their sculptures.
